Reflections of our Past

On Thursday 21st May 2005 our school celebrated it's 60th Birthday.

The school was officially opened on the 21st May 1945.

Previous students, teachers and principals were invited to attend a function to celebrate this special occassion. While they were here we asked them if they could reflect on their time at Hazelbrook Public School. Below are some of their responses.

Name: Mike Murphy (Ex-principal)

Years at Hazelbrook: 1987-1999

Best Memories: The wonderful children, parents and staff.

Worst Memory: Going to a new school.

Since leaving Hazelbrook: I have enjoyed travelling in my caravan.

What are you doing now: I am retired and living at Winmalee.

Name: Heather Flanagan (Ex-student)

Years at Hazelbrook: 1945-1948

Teacher: Mrs. Farnsworth

Best Memories: The teacher and my friends.

Worst Memory: When everyone had the measles.

Since leaving Hazelbrook: After leaving Hazelbrook I went to Lawson Catholic School. Later I worked in the Front Office.

What are you doing now: I am living at Hazelbrook.

Name: Matt Woodham

Years at Hazelbrook: 1990-1996 (Ex-student)

Teachers: Miss Grice, Mrs. Dickie, Mr. Lester, Mr. Clune, Mrs. Charuk, Mrs. McMahon, Mr. McKay.

Best Memories: Sitting under the "tree of peace" at the bottom of Crecy with my friends.

Worst Memory: Mistakenly walking into the girls toilets just after they were built. The smell of the Kindergarten rooms on wet days.

Since leaving Hazelbrook: After leaving Hazelbrook I went to Penrith High School. I travelled overseas and then started university.

What are you doing now: I am working at Hazelwood Childcare Centre.

Name: Maureen Salter

Years at Hazelbrook: 1977

Best Memories: Working with students and seeing my daughter become the School Captain.

Worst Memory: None

Since leaving Hazelbrook: I haven't left. I'm still here working and I'm still going strong.

What are you doing now: Working in the Front Office.

Name: Leah Henderson

Years at Hazelbrook: 1982-1988

Best Memories: A play called "Invaders" and the friends that I had.

Worst Memory:Getting into trouble.

Since leaving Hazelbrook: I am a mum with four kids and I coach Gymnastics.

What are you doing now: I am living at Hazelbrook.

Name: Dannielle Allen (nee Gordon)

Years at Hazelbrook: 1987-1994

Teachers: Mrs. Charuk, Mr. Niciak, Ms. Hayward, Mr. Newman

Best Memories: My friends.

Worst Memory: None

Since leaving Hazelbrook:I finished school, worked in childcare, got married and had my daughter.

What are you doing now: I'm back at work and raising my daughter in Hazelbrook.
